Welcome Teachers!

Thank you for your commitment to Yoga and your interest in deepening your role in the teachings of Yoga. As a member , contributor , or a certified teacher of Green Yoga, you will be part of an international community of teachers who bring ecological awareness and action into the teaching.

Members are listed in the online Green Yoga Directory. To get involved,

* host a local Green Yoga Sangha,

* offer Green Yoga workshops and fundraisers,

* lower their ecological footprint in daily life,

* submit articles to Prana e-news,

* encourage your local Yoga studio to sign up as a Green Yoga Studio for free,

* educate others about the ecological roots of Yoga,

* attend Green Yoga Conferences, and

* become certified as a Green Yoga teacher.

The next Green Yoga teacher training will be in 2010.

The training educates participants on the deeply ecological, ethical principles which underlie Yoga philosophy, both through experiential workshops and Yoga philosophy classes. Courses include Green Yoga Sadhana, Earth Verses, Yogagaia, and Foundations of Yoga and Ecology.

This ancient philosophy and practice of Yoga is grounded in a profound understanding of, reverence and care for the earth. For millennia, verses in yogic texts praise and ask for protection to the elements. These verses urge us to not pollute the earth or water and to respect and give honor to the sun and air. Though composed many years before our current ecological crisis, these early yogis inspire us to actively respond to the current planetary crisis.
