We always welcome volunteers, and have many ways for you to get involved.
Green Yoga's successes in 2004 include:
- Received endorsements from over 100 well-known
Yoga teachers and scholars for our Values Statement.
- Published the first issue of our newsletter, The Green Yoga
Times.
- Educated thousands of people about Green Yoga through sponsoring
outreach booths at four major Yoga and environmental conferences.
- Raised awareness through Green Yoga discussion groups, satsangs,
and experiential workshops, reaching over 200 Yoga practitioners.
Green Yoga's Goals in 2005
In 2005, we will continue to spread the word about Green Yoga as we:
- Create the first Green Yoga Conference: Awakening Ecological
Consciousness Through Yoga, Sept. 16 - 19 in the Santa Cruz
Mountains, with our co-sponsors: the California Yoga Teachers'
Association, Loyola Marymount University, and the California
Institute of Integral Studies.
- Pilot the Green Yoga Studio Audit program, providing resources
and support for studios to green their businesses.
- Redesign our website to offer more resources and an on-line
newsletter.
- Continue to raise awareness at Yoga conferences and through
Green Yoga discussion groups, workshops and classes.
- Continue to educate the public about the toxicity of PVC,
the main ingredient in most Yoga mats, and to advocate for
alternatives.
Our Supporters
Support for the Green Yoga Association is strong: including support from the California Yoga Teachers'
Association, a highly committed and dynamic Founding Board, and the contributions of many volunteers and donors.
However, we need your support so that we can continue to do our important work of raising awareness about honoring and
taking care of the planet as part of Yoga.
