As the solstice approaches I am brightened by the thought of more time outside. I spend a good portion of my time indoors; teaching, practicing, rehearsing, writing. But it is when I am outside that I am truly activated and inspired. Outside, I can look up into the sky and see the vast blue wonder that holds us and I remember that our world is so incredibly beautiful, that life is so incredibly beautiful. So wander outside Green Yogi's and look up, take a breath and feel your connection to earth.
Our Green Yoga Council has been percolating many wonderful ideas and plans and we are looking forward to sharing all of them with you in the coming months. We would love for you to be involved. Solstice Stop

Look to the sky as the sun sets
and before descending pauses
creates color in new incarnations
from vanishing light
Look to your life
human hands and brains fabricate
tear down and build up
things and ideas of significance
Look to your mind
like a monkey jumps
wildly grabs at everything
each thought arises and departs
Look to your breath
ascending and descending
inspiration springs life
expiration harvests meaning
Look between these comings and goings
sweet silence, perfect stillness
To the Earth, perhaps, each year is a single breath
and solstice is that quiet moment between
the rising and the falling of light and dark
In that pause, you can see
A million eyes experience wonder
as Times Square yogis salute the sun
The sockeye salmon leave ocean waters
to swim up river to spawn new life
A red-tail hawk hovering motionless in the sky
before it strikes its evening meal
Penguins huddled close together
as cold darkness begins to fade
Honey bees collecting nectar
in the blooming White House garden
You can hear the pause too
In the stillness and the silence
abiding love, enduring wisdom
You can hear it between the slow, deep breath of your lover
as the energy uncoils deep inside her soul
Between the sighs of your napping child
as the dreams of play dance inside
the sleeping mind
Between the "all" and the "aboard"
as the train conductor beckons you to adventure
In the moment just before the waves crash
sending water, earth, and air into churning unity
